Things I've made this past week or so.....

I made a couple of chemo caps for a friend's friend. The vintage spider web doily for a doily exchange & CAL.
The cable hearts squares for a HMB ghan, the 6" squares for an exchange, there are others too, coasters and more squares for Sept exchanges that I forgot to take pictures of. The last photo is my first try at rebatching soap.I had received a little bucket of homemade soap chips, they became my first soap project, wouldn't want to waste them. I wanted my bars to be different so I used some spaghettio's cans for molds to make the round bars.I have to get busy assembling a couple of HMB ghans before I get involved in any other projects, Have a great day!

HMB Ghans I Assembled

Someone asked about seeing ghans I have assembled, I used to have them posted on another blog that closed so I thought I'd put some of the pictures I located here....

Couldn't get them to show lined up in rows the way I put it together, Hmmm
Have a wonderful weekend.

Cup Mats

Today I designed and made these cup mats. Not sure if I can call them mug rugs so I'll go with Cup Mats. I wanted to make some but I couldn't find a pattern so I took the leap to design my own. Some one once told me that "necessity is the mother of invention". I believe this is true, if you want something and can't find it you will figure out how to make it on your own. It;s so easy I have shared how I made them below.
Cup Mat Pattern
Materials:
1 skein ww cotton yarn
G hook
yarn needle

No gauge, size can vary.

Row 1: Ch 17, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2-14: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
After row 14, finish off. Weave in ends.

Make fringe. I wrapped the yarn around a cd case, took it off and cut the strands in half at each end. You will need enough strands to put a fringe at both ends of each row, for each mat you make. I thought the fringe was too long so after I had finished all of the mats I cut the fringe down to about 1 1/2" You can make it what ever size you like.

Fold each strand in half and loop through the end of a row and pull the ends through the loop and tighten. Do this for both ends of each row.

Today I had the honor of being selected to co-moderate the Crochetalong group.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/crochetalong

The handle potholder pictured here is one of this month's cal projects. I made it today. You slip your hand under the handle that you see in the middle.

That's the only crochet I did today. I did some cleaning today. Not much fun but necessary. I played and chatted on facebook a bit too.

Today I started a vintage doily pattern that was posted as the Oct CAL on one of the groups I belong to. Got to rnd 9 so far. Things just haven't gone as planned all day. :) It was a busy day and I'm kind of tired so I'm just playing on facebook until I call it a day!
